We managed to get a day out of Kathmandu, sneaking past the barricades to Nagarkot. We spent the night there facing out towards the Himalayas. I always find the terraced hills and the foothills stretching off into the distance enormously refreshing and awe inspiring.
The snow capped 'dur khaima' (Far Pavillions) peaked out for a brief period in the early morning. The peaks of Langtang and brought back vivid memories of a family trek out on the old Tibetan salt trail during our time in Nepal in the late 1980s.
